UNIVSERSE consists of two project; a large-scale LED media cube in the public space and an immersive projection mapping installation. The media cube sits in front of the Lotte Tower in Seoul and the projection piece is installed at the Lotte Avenuel gallery, Seoul Korea.
To memorise the deceased abstract painter, Whanki Kim, Korea’s one of the most important artists, this project aims to revitalise his painting, ‘Universe 05-IV-71 #200’ through digital aesthetics. I found that digital immersive art can resonates with the iconic colour 'blue' and signature element 'dot painting' technique in his work, as everything in digital art also begins with a single dot, a pixel.
