ARTIST NOTE

My new work, Light Architecture, imagines the future of AI architecture.

AI architecture refers to the design and structure of an artificial intelligence system, encompassing its components, data flow, algorithms, and computational models that enable it to process information and perform tasks.

As AI advancements accelerate, models and architectures grow so complex that even developers struggle to fully comprehend their inner workings, often labeling them a "black box." Why limit our focus to the inputs and outputs of AI? Understanding and interpreting the inner workings of this black box is more critical than ever, as neglecting to do so risks alienating humanity and misdirecting progress.

Light Architecture is my creative and artistic interpretation of AI architecture as a black box. This intricate system, comprising neurons, networks, patterns, and architecture, takes form in a luminescent kinetic installation. The modules, which I call Neural Pods, act as neurons. These flickering, light-emitting structures collectively create an interconnected light network. Light Architecture seamlessly integrates mechanical and digital complexities and resembles a highly intricate and sophisticated system. Though not immediately apparent, the structure reflects the complexity of advanced artificial intelligence architectures.

The large-scale installation envisions a multi-dimensional structure where light and darkness, complexity and possibility, fear and enlightenment collide—because it reflects the reality humanity faces in 2024, having created AI and opened Pandora's box. In Light Architecture, Audiences are invited to see themselves as both fragments of data within a vast neural network and active participants in shaping AI’s future.

Light Architecture transforms exhibition space into an expansive canvas. The Neural Pods diffuse light across the space, forming a dynamic network that interacts with a central ceiling projection. This structure embodies a narrative of input and output. The visuals depict the fragmentation of human figures like scattered data pieces, followed by an explosion of light symbolizing singularity. The experience merges spatial sound, visuals, and light, enveloping the audience in an enigmatic black box that resists simple interpretation.

Through this work, I aim to evoke reflection on the dualities of artificial intelligence—light and shadow, progress and regression—and its profound implications for humanity.
